Learning in progress

What is it?
When you see ‘Learning in progress’, this means that FOCI is in an initial period of personalizing to your breathing patterns in order to give accurate readings. This is visible when you first start to wear FOCI.

What to do:
‘Learning in progress’ lets you know that FOCI is still learning about your unique physiology. It typically takes 2-3 full working days of desk work for FOCI to complete learning. You can help FOCI learn faster by improving signal quality with these simple steps.

FOCI not paired

What is it?
When you see ‘FOCI not paired’, this means your FOCI is not yet paired within the App. This could happen if you are using FOCI for the first time, or if you have unpaired it from the App.

What to do:
‘FOCI not paired’ lets you know that you will first need to ‘activate’ FOCI and pair it within the App to use it. You can pair FOCI with these simple steps.

Connecting to FOCI

What is it?
When you see ‘Connecting to FOCI’, this means FOCI is trying to connect to the App via bluetooth. This could happen if there is obstruction to or interference with bluetooth, or when FOCI is in low battery.

What to do:
‘Connecting to FOCI’ lets you know that the device and App are not synchronizing. You can help FOCI connect by ensuring that it is charged and in close range.

Syncing data

What is it?
When you see ‘Syncing data’, this means that your smartphone is routinely helping your device process breathing data on the App, which involves large amounts of data synchronized via bluetooth connection.

What to do:
‘Syncing data’ lets you know that FOCI is carrying out routine data processing. This moment to moment routine synchronization is perfectly normal. Colored orbs will reappear once your synchronization completes.

In motion

What is it?
When you see ‘In motion’, this means that FOCI has detected too much movement noise for it to pick up your diaphragmatic breathing signals. This could happen when you are having a subtle posture adjustment.

What to do:
‘In motion’ let you know that at the moment, FOCI can’t give accurate readings of your immediate cognitive states. These moment to moment ‘pauses’ are perfectly normal. Colored orbs will reappear, once your breathing settles.

Adapting to your breathing

What is it?
When you see ‘Adapting to your breathing’, this means that FOCI has detected changes to your breathing signal and is recalibrating. This could happen when you are settling back into your work after a break.

What to do:
‘Adapting to your breathing’ lets you know that at the moment, FOCI can’t give an accurate reading of your immediate cognitive states. These moment to moment ‘pauses’ are perfectly normal. Colored orbs will reappear, once your breathing settles.

Not picking up signal

What is it?

When you see ‘Not picking up signal’, FOCI is letting you know that it cannot capture your breathing. This could happen if you are not currently wearing FOCI, or you are not wearing it correctly.

What to do:
‘Not picking up signal’, lets you know that at the moment, FOCI can’t pick up your breathing patterns. You can help FOCI pick up better quality signal with these simple steps.
