What productivity coaches say

It's highlighted that I at times work too much into exhaustion as my mind wants to finish something while the rest of my system desires recovery. Just by putting on the device it's been like an intention setter to go into the flow cave ;)

Tobias Hofmeister

I found FOCI helpful in validating Flow and distraction experience for users who engage in long-duration solo, seated work.I see writers, coders, UI/UX designers, financial professionals like accountants or analysts benefiting from the device. If I have clients in these areas, I would recommend the device to help them get into Flow, manage distraction and improve their emotional experience.

It’s fantastic! The data and analytics are incredible. One of the most coherent, intuitive and coolest wearables. Gives you insights into your moods and focus like never before. Great job FOCI!

The rhythm sound helps to remind to focus & catch if I’m distracted. Centering the attention to the moment instead of multitasking

OVER 600 5-STAR REVIEWS

FOCI is pushing the limits of productivity by making machine learning, emotion tracking and biofeedback technology accessible to everyone.

I am into quantified self, so you can imagine this is ideal. What i would say is that the tracking is very accurate, it seems to be a big step up from the other cognitive tracking devices I have used.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Patrick J.

I kind of feel conflicted to tell my friends about Foci, because I thought I might lose this edge

★★★★★

Reviewer: Josh K.

My housemate is very noisy, so I have the habit of listening to songs while reading books. I used to wonder whether listening to songs really has a good impact on learning. FOCI gave me the answer...

Reviewer: Mike A.

What’s weird is how more relaxed I feel, seeing my states just there on my smartphone, like looking into my head.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Luke P.

I could definitely see the patterns in my working day where i was stressed and when I was focusing, to the point that i could show that I could skip some activity to be more concentrated.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Ollie H.

What I found is that seeing my states has made me better able to notice and deal with them when I get stressed

★★★★★

Reviewer: Chris R.

I do kind of enjoy wearing foci to work. Somehow is puts me in a good mindset for focusing

★★★★★

Reviewer: Euan M.

One thing I find is that it gives a better account of my time – like i won’t notice where it went, and then I check foci and see i was super distracted. So it is quite helpful to join up the dots...

I am only at 32% learning, but it is already quite accurate!

★★★★★

Reviewer: David C.

I really thought there was a danger it could be more hassle than its worth, or even distract me. I actually find myself using everyday, and has become very useful to help me use my time better.

Reviewer: Frank M.

Love the balls and biofeedback. I am feeling the power. Small and mighty!

★★★★★

Reviewer: Sophie K.

I am really enjoying – especially how it puts a number on how much thinking I have really done (give or take a few minutes) instead of just working hard.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Mark K.

Until you actually see them, it is hard to see how much of a blindspot your focus is, but it really does make you aware, and helping with focus, even a little bit is amazing.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Elle G.

I get pretty anxious with workload, not sure why, but somehow seeing my real time states has a weird soothing effect

★★★★★

★★★★★

Reviewer: Tom G.

I would say this has really helped. What I find is that when I am working hard, I can kind of get psyched out by the task, but when I am just trying to improve my focus depth, I am more focused on the process.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Emma P.

It is surprisingly accurate and I am already feeling a better understanding of my moods.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Mia H.

Focus is quite a good proxy for output, so could be really useful in terms of pacing myself.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Alice W.

I just got a 76 minutes flow ball!!!!!! This is awesome! LOL!

My son has been finding foci extreme helpful. I’m very happy that he is getting much more aware to what is distracting him and when is he procrastinating.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Ed S.

One reason that it seems to work for me, is the sense of progress i get from checking in on my mind – it is instantly obvious if there is something right or wrong with how I am working.

The vibration seems to work quite well, it’s caught me quite a few times in the last few days.

I am studying for the LNAT right now and I went through almost whole training and I can feel a big effect.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Ben S.

I’ve been using Foci for 2 weeks already and the effect on my productivity is very dramatic, maybe it is placebo effect, but seeing how I work, seeing the golden balls that I earn really motivates me.

★★★★★

Reviewer: Sen S.

I’m loving my FOCI – perhaps unsurprisingly I am finding that when I did not have a good sleep the previous night then the next day it would be harder for me to be focused, so it is quite telling...

★★★★★

Reviewer: Jeff P.

I got my first long flow orb, I can really feel the difference now between just working vs in flow. +1

★★★★★

Reviewer: Callie L.

It is kind of strange found I have way more focus balls when I am listening to music. You kind of feel cool to be able to know.

★★★★★

Reviewer: J W.

One thing I have noticed is that the vibration helps up to a point if I am distracted, but would really find it more useful for stress, which is a much bigger problem for me

★★★★★

Reviewer: Abhay R.

Can’t say how helpful this has been for getting focused!

★★★★★

Reviewer: Caitlyn A.

Got my foci, and I love it. The balls are really thought provoking, about how my thoughts can just be there on the screen, like brain imagery, but less uncomfortable!

★★★★★

Reviewer: Leo N.

This is the best productivity device I have ever bought by far. Lifetime customer.

★★★★★

Input: Diaphragmatic breathing motion pattern tracking via the device

Process: Machine learning

Output: Cognitive metrics and real time training feedback

Breathing patterns are correlated with cognitive states. FOCI’s machine learning captures waveforms from the device’s motion sensor, and learns to differentiate real breathing from noise, draw the pattern and match it to different cognitive states. This personalization generally lasts 4-7 days for FOCI 1 and 1.5-3 days for FOCI 2. For references on the science behind FOCI, here are some papers:

sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0166361516303104

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27403347

Allow machine learning to 100% finish profiling your breathing pattern, to enable accurate detection of emotion states. There is no need for special training as the device learns your breathing patterns by itself, and machine learning typically needs 4-7 days to adapt to your physiological characteristics for FOCI 1. FOCI 2’s machine learning needs 1.5-3 days to adapt to your physiological characteristics. You would be able to see the ‘machine learning progress’ on the main screen of the app.

Biofeedback training technology to help you adjust work states and improve mental performance.

When you see a ‘focus streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a focus emotion streak. It is detected from a sustained breathing pattern of at least a few minutes corresponding to being in a state of cognitive focus. This could happen if you are fully immersed in working on a task. ‘Focus streak balls’ let you know that you have been in cognitive focus, even if you are playing a game or watching a movie. You can use this knowledge to improve your awareness of attention, and to enter focus more easily.

When you see a ‘distraction streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a distraction emotion streak. It is detected from a sustained breathing pattern of at least a few minutes corresponding to not being in a state of cognitive focus. This could happen if there are distractions in your environment or random thoughts sneak up on you. ‘Distraction streak balls’, let you know that you have not been in cognitive focus, even if you may be working hard. You can use this knowledge to improve your awareness of attention, and to refocus more easily.

When you see a ‘calm streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a calm emotion streak. It is detected from a sustained breathing pattern of at least a few minutes corresponding to being in a state of cognitive calm. This could happen when you are working at a slow tempo or easing off. ‘Calm streak balls’, let you know that at the moment, you are more at ease than usual, or in the process of easing yourself from a stressful situation. You can use this knowledge to improve your awareness of emotive states, and gain better control over the work tempo.

When you see a ‘stress streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a stress emotion streak. It is detected from a sustained breathing pattern of at least a few minutes corresponding to cognitive stress. This could happen when you are struck by a negative thought, or by working on a demanding task. ‘Stress streak balls' let you know that you have been more tense than usual. It is very normal and could happen often throughout the day. You can use this knowledge to improve your awareness of emotive states, and gain better control over how it affects you.

When you see a ‘fatigue streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a fatigue emotion streak. It is detected from a breathing pattern corresponding to cognitive fatigue. You are likely to see ‘fatigued’, if you have strained your focus from work. ‘Fatigue streak balls’, let you know that you are in a state of attention fatigue and need to refresh your attention. While fatigue can be a good sign of working hard, frequent fatigue streaks indicates that you need to take steps to pause for a break, manage your energy levels through better planning and sleeping.

When you see a ‘flow streak ball’, this means that FOCI has detected a flow emotion streak. It is detected from a sustained breathing pattern corresponding to cognitive flow. This is sustained deep cognitive focus, where you are likely to experience full involvement in your task at hand, and enjoyment of the process of the activity. ‘Flow streak balls’ let you know that you have been in cognitive flow for a sustained period. Creating flow is a bit like building up momentum of focus, once you are in flow you have to stay in it.
